About Us
Who We Are
Gabriel Oaks Church of Christ is a body of friendly, loving believers who are striving for a home with God in Heaven. We have confidence in this hope of Heaven because of what the God-breathed Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16) tell us. I Peter 1: 3-5 (3) “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,(4) to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in Heaven for you, (5) who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.” John 14:2-3 (2)”In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. (3) “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.”
Singing
We choose to sing Acapella because of the instruction from the Lord “…..speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your heart to the Lord:” Ephesians 5:19 “……I shall pray with the spirit and I shall pray with the mind also; I shall sing with the spirit and I shall sing with the mind also.” I Corinthians 14:15
Praying
We pray in the name of Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:20 “Always giving thanks for all things in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God, even the Father.”
The Lord’s Supper
The Lord’s Supper (unleavened bread and fruit of the vine (grape juice)) was instituted by Jesus on the night of His betrayal and arrest. (Matthew 26:26-29.) …Bread…” Take eat, this is My body,….Fruit of the vine……..Drink from it all of you for this is my blood of the covenant.” We celebrate The Lord’s Supper on the first day of every week, as the Apostles did, to remind us of the Lord’s sacrifice. Acts 20:7.
Giving
Giving is to be as one has “prospered,” as they have “purposed in their heart,” and “done cheerfully” (1 Corinthians 16:2 and 2 Corinthians 9:7).
Baptism
“He who has believed and has been baptized (immersed/submerged/dipped) shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned.” Mark 16:16 “Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore, we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.” Romans 3 &4
Preaching
The preaching is always Bible-based. (1) “I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: (2) preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.” 2 Timothy 4:1-2
